As part of the project "Facilitation of transit transport and trade in West Africa for better participation in value chains" national workshops will be organized to:

  • Validate the study on the modalities of interconnection and interoperability of Single Windows of Burkina Faso, Benin, Niger and Togo to inspire a sub-regional application:

This study was carried out with the aim of developing a reflection that goes beyond the simple construction and implementation of Article 10.4 (Single Window) of the Agreement on Trade Facilitation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and which considers the necessary interactions to be expected between national Single Windows in the context of complex international trade transactions.
  • Follow up the implementation of the Quadrilateral Declaration of Convergence of the Legal Framework for Road Transport in the context of the implementation of the AfCFTA signed in Niamey on 25th May 2023 through the validation at the national level of:

    1. Structure of a project for a quadrilateral road transport agreement

A quadrilateral agreement intended to enact the principles of regulatory convergence aims to reflect the new needs of the road transport and intermediation sector. To do so, the quadrilateral agreement would provide the general framework for the organization and operation of road transport, also taking into account the development and increase of quadrilateral transport.

    2. Study and transitional quadrilateral agreement on the operation of the ISRT single guarantee

Transit trade is one of the longstanding problems in the West Africa and ECOWAS region. The common customs guarantee system covering transport through the transit country to the consignee in the landlocked country faces several operational challenges/obstacles and inefficiencies. This study and draft agreement will be discussed at the national level to lay the foundation to achieve a functional transit mechanism between the four beneficiary countries.
