As part of the ongoing activities under the DFID-UNCTAD Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP) programme, an Early Market Engagement event was held in London to publicize an upcoming role of the Programme Management Agent (PMA) under the SMEP programme.
The PMA will play a fundamental role in managing the SMEP programme going forward, its role will include commissioning a number of research calls, which are expected to be launched in early 2020, shortly after UNCTAD completes an initial baseline research study.
The selection of the PMA will follow DFID’s procurement process. An official invitation for proposals is expected in the first semester of 2019. More information can be accessed on the funding section of the official DFID website.
About SMEP
The Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP) programme is a research initiative supported by the UK government (DFID). It seeks to reduce the environmental and social impacts of manufacturing in developing countries by funding research activities and developing technical solutions that will help reduce the levels of pollution and environmental degradation generated by industrial/manufacturing processes in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and South Asia (SA). UNCTAD acts as a strategic technical partner to the programme, providing advice to the programme and helping to disseminate results to the international community.
