12 - 13 June 2019
UNECA Compound – Caucus room 11
Addis Ababa
, Ethiopia

Background

This seminar is part of the UNCTAD – UNECA project on services trade in Africa, funded by the United Nations. The project aims at unlocking the potential of services trade of partner countries by increasing capacity to measure the contribution of services to regional value chains (RVCs) and to explore the value added by domestic and foreign firms. In Ethiopia, the focus is on transport services, owing to its catalyzing capacity and strategic relevance for the economy.

Objective

The national seminar will sensitize key national stakeholders of transport services about the importance of and tools to measure the target value chain, and the role they play in its measurement. Moreover, the seminar will highlight how the project can support Ethiopia to design policies which promote a higher degree of integration into RVCs.
