The eTrade for Women eMasterclass 

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and its partners are organizing the second eTrade for Women eMasterclass for Africa, from 8 to 10 July 2020, under the theme ‘Making women thrive in the digital economy – Operating a more resilient business in times of crisis’.

This eMasterclass, designed for women digital entrepreneurs in selected English-speaking East African countries,  will help them better harness the digital transformations of their economies and societies, by:
• Strengthening their skills and abilities to grow a digital business, generate growth and ultimately contribute to sustainable development,
• Contributing to the emergence of an eTrade for Women network of women operating in the digital ecosystem of the region,
• Fostering a public-private dialogue between entrepreneurs and local policy-makers for a more inclusive digital economy.
 
This programme is supported by the Government of the Netherlands and implemented in cooperation with eTrade for all partners.

Live Public Sessions​

The eMasterclass will feature two live sessions open to the public:

The first online public session will be a Fireside Chat with Ms. Clarisse Iribagiza, eTrade for Women Advocate, and Founder & CEO of He He Labs, hosted by Dr. Monica Kerrets-Makau, Professor of Practice, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Africa Hub. It will take place on Wednesday 8 July 2020, from 11.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. (GMT+2). Through this inspirational session, Ms. Iribagiza will share her experience as a successful young female digital entrepreneur and discuss how to overcome challenges and leverage technology to generate economic opportunities for women.

The second online public session will be a Policy Dialogue entitled ‘Creating a vibrant digital economy in times of Covid-19: Best Practices from selected East-African countries’, to be held on Friday 10 July 2020, from 12.45 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. (GMT+2). The Policy Dialogue will offer a unique opportunity for senior policymakers from the region and participating women entrepreneurs to engage in an interactive discussion on ways and means to create a business environment that is more conducive to women digital entrepreneurship.
