UNCTAD and the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are organising the fourth Regional Meeting on the development of an ECOWAS E-commerce Strategy (ECS). This meeting will bring together representatives of the ECOWAS Commission and two national focal points from each ECOWAS member States, representing the Ministries responsible for Trade and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The 4th Regional Meeting on the Development of an ECOWAS E-commerce Strategy serves as a technical review by ECOWAS member States on the draft strategic and governance framework for the ECOWAS ECS. Held ahead of the ECOWAS Trade Experts and Ministers Meeting scheduled for 8 - 11 November 2022, the meeting aims to:
- Provide a detailed presentation on the draft ECOWAS ECS to relevant government representatives,
- Exchange comments and feedback on the strategic framework and governance framework for the draft ECOWAS e-commerce strategy, and
- Validate the vision, mission, principles, strategic goals and objectives, and the governance framework for the draft ECOWAS e-commerce strategy.
This meeting is held within the context of the Regional E-commerce Strategy Development Project which is supported by the government of the Netherlands as part of the UNCTAD’s eT Ready Implementation Support Mechanism (ISM).
