Background
This seminar is part of the UNCTAD – UNECA project on services trade in Africa, funded by the United Nations. The project aims at unlocking the potential of services trade of partner countries by increasing capacity to measure the contribution of services to regional value chains (RVCs) and to explore the value added by domestic and foreign firms.
Objective
In Gambia, the focus is on tourism services owing to its catalyzing capacity and strategic relevance for the economy. The national seminar will sensitize key national stakeholders of tourism services about the importance, tools and roles of stakeholders in measuring target value chains, and how this supports Gambia’s capacity to design policies which promote a higher degree of integration into RVCs.
Participants at the UNCTAD - UNECA national seminar on "The Gambia's Tourism Sector: Measuring Its Value Chains and Exploiting Its Potential", held from 23-24 May 2019.
