Background and objectives
Emergency aid to Haiti aims to promote sustainable trade and value chain development for sustainable economic diversification. The emphasis on food security is seen from sustainable production, improved agricultural productivity and integrated rural development angles, integrated into broader policies and programs for the development of productive capacities and social outcomes in Haiti.
UNCTAD is collaborating with the ILO in this effort, focusing on two green sectors identified as having potential, fisheries and aquaculture (Lead: UNCTAD) and agriculture (Lead: ILO). The aim is to promote sustainable trade and access to entrepreneurship and decent jobs for women and young people.
The general objective of this ceremony is to inform national and international stakeholders and the general public about the support of the SIDS Fund through the launch of projects financed by the SDG Fund.
Specifically, to:
- Inform national and international partners of the launch of the Economic Resilience Program and the Global Crisis: Emergency Relief for Haiti project;
- Present to partners the objectives and expected results of the Economic Resilience Program;
- Present to partners the objectives and expected results of the Global Crisis project;
- Raise the profile of SIDS funding for the country.
