Body

Over the past two decades, and notwithstanding the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Togo has experienced sustained economic growth, leading to improvements in poverty reduction and standards of living. While agriculture remains central, new services and industrial activities are emerging, and investment in port infrastructure has strengthened Togo's position as a trade corridor in West Africa. However, challenges remain, including limited diversification of production and trade, and relatively low levels of productivity.

The Production Transformation Policy Review of Togo outlines strategic avenues for addressing these challenges, focusing on the promotion of investment, innovation and integration through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA); increased support from international partners; and the responsibility of the private sector. This review is the result of collaboration between the OECD Development Centre, the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), along with the Togolese government, the private sector and international peers from Viet Nam and Mauritius.

The launch event will bring together under the high patronage of the President of Togo multiple government ministers, regional experts and a broad range of national and regional stakeholders to discuss partnerships for Togo’s economic transformation.
