Meeting to present the Honey Residue Monitoring Plan and results achieved of UNCTAD’s honey value chain support

A meeting to present and discuss the final draft document for the Honey Residue Monitoring Plan, and results achieved by UNCTAD’s honey value chain support work-stream under the Green Exports component was organized on 12 December 2024 in the presence of the Secretary of State of Commerce and the Secretary of State of Forestry and a group of 21 officials (F: 8 ; M: 13) involved in elaborating the Residue Monitoring Plan with UNCTAD’s support. 

The meeting discussed the next steps to kick-start honey exports, with a detailed discussion on the procedures and requirements for exporting honey to the EU. 

The overview of the honey value chain support work-stream’s achievements was provided, including overview of the Conceptual Guide for the National Honey Policy, Residue Monitoring Plan, laboratory procedures and capacities assessment, field activities and honey extension services in Huambo. 

The Secretary of State of Commerce concluded the meeting by announcing the intention to officially approve the policy documents developed through the work-stream, to continue the extension services in Huambo and to replicate the same successful model in other provinces in Angola.
