As part of the Pacific Digital Economy Programme (PDEP), UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has conducted an eTrade Readiness Assessment of the e-commerce ecosystem of Timor-Leste. This assessment aims to identify challenges and opportunities in seven policy areas essential for e-commerce development. The findings will serve as the foundation for the National E-Commerce Strategy (NECS).

In close collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste, UNCTAD is co-organizing a workshop in Dili to provide national stakeholders and development partners with the opportunity to review and validate the main findings of the Assessment. It will also facilitate discussions and feedback on the strategic framework and implementation plan of the National E-Commerce Strategy (NECS).

The primary objective is to create an actionable plan for enhancing the ecosystem of Timor-Leste. The workshop is open to policymakers, industry leaders, and relevant stakeholders committed to advancing e-commerce in Timor-Leste.

The PDEP is a joint initiative delivered by UNCDF, UNDP, and UN Trade and Development to support the development of inclusive digital economies in the Pacific. PDEP is supported by the European Union, and the Governments of Australia and New Zealand.
