The E-Commerce and Digital Economy Branch of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia will hold national multi-stakeholder consultations for the eTrade Readiness Assessment of Indonesia on 22 and 23 May 2025. The multi-stakeholder consultations will bring together key e-commerce stakeholders from the public sector, private sector, civil society, as well as UN and development partners to discuss and gather perspectives on the main challenges and opportunities for promoting e-commerce and digital trade in Indonesia. These consultations build on insights from the online multi-stakeholder kick-off meeting on 13 February 2025, desk research and the results of online surveys distributed to the public sector, the private sector and consumers. The event will take place in Jakarta, offering both in-person and online participation options.
The eTrade Readiness Assessment (eT Ready) will review Indonesia’s e-commerce ecosystem, with a view to identifying policy recommendations for strengthening innovation, increasing global competitiveness, and creating a robust and inclusive digital economy. It will focus on the following policy areas: e-commerce and digital trade policy framework, technologies adoption, SMEs’ performance on e-commerce and digital trade, legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as digital payment systems and financial inclusion.
The assessment will be the eleventh eT Ready in Asia and the fourth in Southeast Asia following the ones in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Myanmar. Funding is provided by the E-commerce and Digital Economy Programme Core Donors (Australia, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and the Kingdom of the Netherlands).
