Transport sector value chain analysis study and the COVID-19 impacts and responses study on the transport services sector in Ethiopia
The validation workshop is part of the UNCTAD – UNECA – Ethiopia project on services trade in Africa, funded by the United Nations Development Account. The project aims at unlocking the potential of services trade in Ethiopia by increasing capacity to measure the contribution of services to regional value chains (RVCs) and to explore the value added by domestic and foreign firms. In Ethiopia, the focus is on transport services owing to its catalyzing impact and strategic relevance for the economy.
The workshop will sensitize key national stakeholders of transport services about the importance, tools, and roles of stakeholders in measuring target value chains, and how this supports Ethiopia’s capacity to design policies which promote a higher degree of integration into RVCs.
Furthermore, the workshop will shed light on the extent of the impact of covid-19 on the transport services sector and what should be done to facilitate a quick recovery and build resilience to future shocks.
The meeting will take place in the form of two half-day hybrid workshops.
