This workshop is part of a UN Development Account project entitled "Promoting cotton by-products in Eastern and Southern Africa".

In partnership with the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), UNCTAD is implementing the project in Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The national workshop will assemble representatives from relevant stakeholder groups in Uganda’s cotton value chain.

Over the course of the three-day programme, participants will identify priority cotton by-products activities for development and devise strategies to realize them.

After the workshop, the project has further activities planned until 2019.
