dtl_ttl_climatechange02_400x279.jpgUNCTAD will be in Saint Lucia on 24 – 26 May 2017 to deliver a national capacity building workshop on “Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation for Coastal Transport Infrastructure in the Caribbean”.

The workshop is being held under the framework of UNCTAD’s UN Development Account project on "Climate change impacts on coastal transport infrastructure in the Caribbean: Enhancing the adaptive capacity of Small Island Developing States (SIDS)”.

The project aims to strengthen the capacity of policymakers, transport planners and transport infrastructure managers in SIDS to:

(a) understand climate change impacts on coastal transport infrastructure – in particular seaports and airports.

(b) take appropriate adaptation response measures.

The national workshop will bring together relevant stakeholders and provide an opportunity to present and discuss the draft case-study of Saint Lucia, as well as the draft methodology for assessing climate-related impacts and adaptation options that is being developed under the project. The workshop will also provide an opportunity for feedback and further input by national stakeholders.

UNCTAD’s implementation of project activities, including the national workshop in Saint Lucia, benefits from collaboration with UNEP, UNECLAC and UNDP, as well as the ECJRC.
