Validation workshop for UNCTAD's fisheries manual and Training fishermen and women in Uganda in sanitary and phytosanitary standards

​A two-part workshop will be held in Entebbe, Uganda, to present a manual that UNCTAD has developed for improving the abilities of LDCs to meet international quality and safety standards in their fisheries exports. The first part of the workshop, for one day, will be for the purpose of validating the manual, and will be attended by officials of Ugandan ministries and services related to the fisheries sector.

The second part of the workshop, held for one and a half days, will be attended by fishermen and women working along the fisheries value chain, and will be for the purpose of presenting UNCTAD's manual and discussing how to use it in practice.
Presenters and discussants at the workshop will deliberate on the role of fisheries in Uganda's economy, ways to increase value addition along the value chain, and difficulties faced by the nation's exporters.
