Webinar on Consumer protection policy for Portuguese speaking countries in Africa and Timor Leste

Within the scope of its technical cooperation work, UNCTAD has been providing technical assistance and institutional capacity-building activities on Competition and Consumer Protection Policies to Portuguese speaking countries in Africa and Timor Leste, according to identified needs and interests.

This webinar aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of key consumer protection topics through the lens of the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection (UNGCP). It will cover fundamental principles related to consumer rights to information, health and safety, and sustainability. Additionally, the webinar will examine how these principles have been implemented by various countries, using examples of legislation to illustrate discussions on creating and enhancing national regulations and policies.

The webinar comprises three sessions followed by interactive debates.
