The BioTrade Self-Assessment Tool is a user-friendly, publicly accessible online resource for everyone including companies, producers, cooperatives and projects from various biodiversity-based value chains. It allows users to assess their sustainability practices against a selection of criteria of the UNCTAD’s BioTrade Principles and Criteria (P&C), serving as a starting point for efforts towards more biodiversity-friendly, greener, and inclusive business practices.
The tool is available on the BioTrade Knowledge Sharing web page and was developed by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and UNCTAD’s BioTrade Initiative under the Global BioTrade programme: Linking trade, biodiversity and sustainable development launched in 2018 with the support of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO.
Objective
A hands-on interactive workshop series on the UNCTAD-ITC BioTrade Self-Assessment Tool is being organized with the aim to guide efforts towards more inclusive and biodiversity-friendly businesses. This guidance includes supporting biodiversity-based value chain actors to effectively implement key international biodiversity agreements such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).
