WTO Director-General’s Consultative Framework Mechanism on Cotton
UNCTAD had a strong presence at the biannual WTO Cotton Days event, held on 28-29 November 2018. The objectives of UNCTAD participation were to: a) disseminate the results of our technical cooperation project on “Promoting cotton by-products in Eastern and Southern Africa”; and b) to obtain a mandate from member states to pursue a joint initiative on cotton by-products with the WTO and ITC. UNCTAD participation included a presentation of the project by UNCTAD staff and a country case study by UNCTAD project consultant from Zambia, as well as joint preparations with the WTO and ITC on a special session on cotton by-products.
