In close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), UNCTAD is organizing the national launch of the eTrade Readiness Assessment (eT Ready) of Mongolia. The event aims to present the main findings of the Assessment to the national stakeholders, including members of the National E-commerce Task Force, representatives of the public and private sectors, NGOs and the academia. Prior to the launch, a roundtable with development partners will be organized by the MFA, with the support of UNCTAD and the UN Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO), bringing together relevant partners and donors to discuss potential collaboration and mobilize support in the implementation of the high-priority recommendations included in the eT Ready.
The Assessment was conducted in 2022 with the financial support of the Government of Korea and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It is the result of a series of multi-stakeholder consultations, of primary data collected through three dedicated surveys (public sector, private sector and consumers) as well as relevant inputs from development and eTrade for all partners.
The eT Ready Assessment launch will take place during a week of high-level digital events in Ulaanbaatar, including: i) a Global Digital Dialogue (GDD 2023), organized by the United Nations of Mongolia, in collaboration with MDDC and UNCTAD, focusing on the role of e-commerce for facilitating digital trade and economic diversification at the global level, ii) the ICT Forum and ICT Expo organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Communication, and iii) the ICT Ministerial Meeting 2023 hosted by the Government of Mongolia on the theme ‘Building Inclusive Digital Economy’, with a view to exchange knowledge on best practices and explore avenues of cooperation. Several Ministers and high-level representatives from various countries and regions are expected to attend the meetings.
