The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), jointly with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Guinea Bissau are organizing a National Workshop in the context of the preparation of a regional eTrade Readiness Assessment for ECOWAS.
The national workshop will present preliminary findings regarding the eTrade readiness of the country, prepared on the basis of a review by UNCTAD. The workshop will bring together national stakeholders, including public and private sector representatives, as well as civil society organizations and will serve as a means of validating and supplementing information gathered through desk review and data collection.
The workshop takes place in the context of the Regional ECOWAS E-commerce Strategy Development Project and is supported by the government of the Netherlands as part of the UNCTAD’s eT Ready Implementation Support Mechanism (ISM). Between 2018 and 2020, 8 eTrade Readiness Assessments (eT Readies) were undertaken for ECOWAS Member States in Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo, with the support of the Government of Germany.
